Our team at RippleMatch is thrilled to highlight Miriam Menon, The University Relations Lead at Getinge, as an exceptional Program Innovator in our Campus Recruiting Community! Miriam has attended numerous RippleMatch events and webinars, where she continuously makes an impression. She is always the first to speak up, pose a thoughtful question, or raise a point that makes all of us think. When we ask for feedback or suggestions from members of our community, Miriam is happy to engage with us and make OUR programming better and more relevant–which isn’t surprising, since she’s done that with all of the Campus Recruiting programs she’s worked on.

Miriam does everything in her power to build out and improve campus programs, with stellar results. She describes herself as “a people oriented Talent Acquisition Professional with a strong passion for Recruitment and University Relations.” She focuses on building best in class student programs that put emphasis on their personal and professional development. Her passions include mentoring and coaching diverse talent, driving the Global Human Resources strategy and Innovating with purpose. We asked Miriam about some of her more recent innovations in Campus Recruitment Programming, and what she’s looking forward to in the New Year:

R: What’s one innovation in campus recruitment over the past year that has excited you?

M: Our ability to pivot seamlessly to the challenges the pandemic threw our way, was the catalyst our program needed. We were able to push the envelope and relaunch our student programs to a virtual platform. This was a win on multiple counts but the one that stood out was our ability to include all our North American locations. This virtual programming offered us the opportunity to include students from schools that are outside of our geographic locations.

R: What are some things you’ve done to innovate your campus recruitment strategy or early careers program?

M: Our strategy approach was intentional from hosting virtual employer round tables, peer to peer information sessions, to interview and hire days. The goal was to raise brand awareness and in turn help students discover non-traditional career opportunities i.e. growth is not linear. This helped launch our Early Talent ID Program and build sustainable partnerships with local STEM high schools, colleges and universities. In addition, this innovative strategy raised the bar for our program. Our 48% diverse, highly engaged, bench of talented, early career professionals are empowered to be brand champions not just for Getinge, but also for their respective departments. We surveyed all students at the end of our 2021 summer program and the results speak to the success of our approach:  83% of our students will recommend the program to another student  80% found the workshops & networking opportunities were helpful in their development  83% felt that they had a safe and comfortable space to openly express themselves.

R: When you think about the future of early career recruitment at your company, what are some things you’re hoping to accomplish?

M: Teamwork and collaboration define how Getinge builds sustainable programs. In 2022 we will be launching new opportunities for students in the form of Externship, Emerging Talent Development and Fellowship programs. Our mission is to help early talent identify, navigate and explore non-traditional career opportunities. As we continue to recruit and enhance our inclusive culture, we aim to be the early talent destination and employer of choice for future leaders’ #NextGenGetinge.
